Long Island wine started here in 1973, when Louisa and Alex Hargrave planted vinifera on a Cutchogue potato farm that everyone told them was the wrong place for it. The North Fork now has around forty producers working a maritime climate that behaves more like Bordeaux than anywhere else in the north-east, and the land that supports them is the most tightly held on the fork.

Working vineyards and wineries reach the open market rarely — often only once in a generation, and frequently off-market entirely. Below is what is currently listed in the agricultural and land categories across the North Fork. If nothing here fits, tell us what you are looking for; this is exactly the kind of purchase that gets done through a phone call rather than a search result.
